Teams from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) have distributed vegetable seedlings and seeds to families in Zacapa as part of an effort to strengthen food security and nutrition. The initiative aims to encourage the production of fresh and healthy foods at home.

The recipients on this occasion were women farmers from Santa Lucía village, who are members of the local Center for Learning for Rural Development (CADER). The distribution is part of the Rural Home component, led by MAGA extension workers and professionals.

According to MAGA, these family gardens will allow women to grow a variety of vegetables for their own consumption. They may also generate additional income by selling surplus produce.

In addition to providing materials for establishing family gardens, MAGA technicians offer technical assistance and follow-up support to ensure successful harvests.
