Farmers in La Felicidad, a village in the municipality of Sayaxché, Petén, have received 1,300 tilapia fingerlings as part of efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) to improve food security in the region.

The delivery was coordinated by staff from the Directorate of Agricultural Development (DAGRO), which is part of the Vice Ministry for Petén Affairs (VIPETÉN).

The fingerlings were harvested at the Eco-productive Center El Remate in Flores, Petén. This center focuses on breeding, managing, and making various species available for local producers.

During the event, technical staff provided guidance on fish stocking, feeding practices, and proper water management in ponds. The instructions aim to help ensure successful cultivation and promote sustainable practices for long-term productivity.
