At Francisco Marroquín University, students in the Business Engineering program participated in an annual workshop that focuses on probability and simulation through casino game design. The event, part of the Engineering Workshop II course, took place on September 19, 2025, in the CE-400 room of the university's Student Center building.

Mariana Gálvez, a student from the Faculty of Economic Sciences at Francisco Marroquín University, explained: "In the casino we create games that challenge us to calculate the odds of whether the house or the player wins; for this reason, we work with simulations and probabilities."

The workshop aims to develop skills among students to use data and technology in solving real-world problems. The Business Engineering program prepares graduates to combine scientific knowledge with practical applications. Students are encouraged to innovate within competitive environments while maintaining ethical standards and understanding legal and economic frameworks.

According to organizers, this hands-on activity is designed to foster critical thinking and innovation among future engineers. The approach aligns with active learning methodologies used by Francisco Marroquín University.

"In this workshop we see how UFM trains professionals who not only think outside the box but also create new ones. In a world where uncertainty is constant, these future engineers learn to master probabilities and turn ideas into profitable realities," said a university representative.
