Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala, S. A. (EEGSA) has announced that its administrative building on Sixth Avenue in Zone 1 of Guatemala City will be illuminated with the colors of the Colombian flag. This action marks the 215th anniversary of Colombia's independence and commemorates 200 years of diplomatic relations between Colombia and Guatemala.
The company stated that this symbolic gesture is intended as a friendly greeting to the people of Colombia and as special recognition of the historical, diplomatic, and cooperative ties shared by both countries.
Colombia is also home to Grupo EPM, EEGSA’s parent company. According to EEGSA, this connection adds particular significance to the celebration. The company emphasized its ongoing commitment to sustainable development in Guatemala under its vision: “to contribute to the harmony of life for a better world.”
EEGSA noted that Colombia serves as a strategic partner in strengthening institutional and business frameworks. The country plays an important role in fostering commercial relationships that drive economic growth, investment, and innovation in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and technology.
The building illumination will be visible from Wednesday, July 16 through Sunday, July 20 between 7:00 p.m. and midnight each evening. EEGSA invited both the Colombian community living in Guatemala and the general public to visit the site during these dates.
"Congratulations to Colombia on its independence and we celebrate the bonds that unite us!" said EEGSA.
