The Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (INGUAT) has announced the launch of its Strategic Plan for Religious Tourism 2024-2030. The plan aims to strengthen Guatemala's position as a destination for religious tourism over the next six years.
According to INGUAT, the strategy includes measures to promote and develop sites of religious significance throughout the country. The initiative is designed to attract both domestic and international visitors interested in religious and cultural experiences.
Anayansy Carolina Rodríguez, Director at INGUAT, stated: "The Strategic Plan for Religious Tourism 2024-2030 represents our commitment to preserving Guatemala’s rich spiritual heritage while promoting sustainable tourism development."
The plan outlines actions such as improving infrastructure at key religious sites, supporting local communities involved in related activities, and enhancing promotional efforts abroad. INGUAT also intends to collaborate with various stakeholders including local governments, faith-based organizations, and private sector partners.
Rodríguez added: "We believe that by working together with different sectors, we can create meaningful experiences for visitors and generate benefits for our communities."
