A workshop titled “PorciEducate” was held at Hotel El Atlántico in Río Hondo, Zacapa, aiming to improve the technical skills of professionals and producers in the pig farming sector. The event focused on enhancing efficiency, traceability, and biosecurity within Guatemala’s pork production industry.
Participants received information about the objectives and general features of the National Livestock Traceability System. They also learned about best practices for biosecurity on pig farms. The National Swine Health Program (PRONASPORC), which operates under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), conducted a session on advanced techniques for carcass cutting and grilling.
A livestock professional from the National Screwworm Program contributed technical knowledge and support throughout various sessions during the workshop.
According to MAGA, “With these actions MAGA reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the national livestock sector by promoting ongoing training and implementing practices that ensure safety, traceability, and competitiveness in pig production in Guatemala.”
