Quesillos Lo Nuestro, a business in Nicaragua known for its traditional quesillo, has marked 33 years in operation. The company credits much of its success to support from Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI) initiatives, such as COCREO and the Molinos Modernos Academy of Bakery and Pastry. These programs provide entrepreneurs with training and access to ingredients from the CMI Alimentos portfolio.
She also highlighted how her mother started the business over three decades ago and how it remains a symbol of local flavor and tradition.
The business has benefited from products like Harinas Del Comal, which Canales said are “bastante natural por ser mixtamalizada, lo que hace que nuestros productos se sientan bastante frescos y naturales.” She added, “Nuestra tradición comienza con el maíz y con Del Comal y COCREO hemos aprendido a crecer conservando nuestras raíces.”
CMI’s COCREO program is part of its social action strategy under CMI Emprende. Since 1998, this initiative has provided training to more than 130,000 entrepreneurs across Central America and the Dominican Republic. The program focuses on supporting sustainable economic growth by encouraging entrepreneurship and helping businesses formalize their operations.
Corporación Multi Inversiones has operated in the milling industry for 89 years and continues to invest in innovation throughout Central America and the Caribbean. Its brands include Molinos Modernos, Virgen de Covadonga, El Sol, Fhacasa, Bollo Fino, GEMINA, Ozama, Blanquita Vita Lechero, Alilechero, Aliansa, Espiga, Del Comal and Ais Bakery.
Currently led by third-generation family members Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga (President Chairman of CMI Alimentos) and Felipe Bosch Gutiérrez (President Chairman of CMI Capital), the group maintains a commitment to sustainable development through investment in projects that encourage entrepreneurship.
