The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) organized a farmer's fair in Chisec, Alta Verapaz, which saw the participation of 80 farmers from the Center for Learning for Rural Development (CADER) and representatives from various local communities.
Farmers at the event sold a range of fresh products including fruits, vegetables, and staple grains. The initiative aimed to support local consumption and contribute to family economies in the region.
More than 200 people attended the fair, showing support for local agricultural work and rural development efforts. According to MAGA, "Farmer's Fairs are a key opportunity for producers to sell directly to consumers without intermediaries. In addition, these commercial activities promote the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices and the exchange of experiences among farmers."
The event is part of ongoing efforts by MAGA to encourage direct sales between producers and consumers while fostering sustainable agriculture in rural communities.
