The Patient Information Module at the General Hospital of Diseases continues to provide support for members and their families. The module is designed to assist patients and relatives by offering guidance, answering questions, and giving access to basic health information.
Located at the General Hospital of Diseases operated by the Instituto Guatemalteco de Seguridad Social (IGSS) in Zone 9, the module has served hundreds of people since its launch. It helps users find services, understand requirements for procedures, receive updates on medical processes, and get support during special situations.
Wendy Estrada, a member of the team, said that the module plays an important role in supporting patient families. "The module contributes significantly to the well-being of patients' relatives by offering a more humane, organized, and efficient service. Its main goal is to provide timely and reliable medical information, reducing uncertainty and anxiety often caused by waiting," she stated.
The hospital maintains ongoing quality control processes to ensure high standards in care. Staff are trained to be empathetic and responsive to user needs. "Our duty is to facilitate timely access to authorized medical information while ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and clarity of the data provided—always within institutional guidelines," Estrada added.
The service operates daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., located under a tent outside the hospital building. Trained staff offer direct assistance with requests, provide schedules for clinical areas and procedures, and update families on patients' basic status.
In addition to sharing patient information, staff act as a communication channel between medical teams and families. Enrique López, whose mother Ernestina González is hospitalized there, described his experience: "I received excellent attention at the information module. The staff was very kind, attentive, and answered all my questions clearly and patiently. I appreciate their willingness to give guidance and their respectful treatment at all times. I felt well attended with all necessary information about my mother's condition," he said.
The General Hospital of Diseases states it remains committed to providing humane, efficient care aimed at improving patient experiences and promoting a safe healthcare environment.
