A nutritionist from the Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture component of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) gave a talk on macronutrients and nutrition at different stages of life to parents in Baja Verapaz. The session also addressed the importance of moderating sugar intake and limiting consumption of ultra-processed foods.

The training was organized by El Refugio de la Niñez as part of its parent education program. It took place on November 19 and 21, with 28 parents from various municipalities in Baja Verapaz attending.

Psychology and social work professionals also participated, covering topics such as healthy habits, hygiene, proper eating practices, the importance of rest, and respectful parenting.

“These actions reflect the value of inter-institutional work and the importance of providing practical tools to families to promote balanced nutrition, strengthen healthy habits, and contribute to the well-being of communities in Baja Verapaz,” according to organizers.
