The Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) will hold its Virtual Health Week from December 1 to 5, 2025. The event aims to promote disease prevention and health among employees of companies and institutions that are part of the Medical Care System in Company Clinics.
Eight IGSS specialists will lead sessions on topics including physical, pulmonary, visual, auditory, and reproductive health. These educational workshops and talks will be available through a virtual platform so participants can access them from their offices or homes.
"Topics requested by companies and institutions during 2025, such as physical, pulmonary, visual, auditory, and reproductive health, will be addressed," said Aracelly Castillo González, who oversees the Medical Care System in Company Clinics at IGSS.
The initiative was developed to reach affiliates from various business sectors using technology for easier access and flexibility with schedules. Information shared during the week is intended to have an impact on prevention efforts.
Companies and institutions affiliated with the system will receive invitations through internal communication channels with IGSS. Human resources and medical departments are expected to share this information with their workers. "Participate in Virtual Health Week, a space designed especially to strengthen your physical and emotional well-being. Take advantage of this opportunity to resolve doubts, learn healthy habits, and receive reliable guidance that contributes to improving your quality of life. Your health is a priority; join us and be part of this initiative that IGSS makes available to you," added Castillo González.
Currently, there are over 200 agreements between IGSS and various entities nationwide for company clinics. This arrangement allows more than 100,000 affiliates to receive primary and preventive medical care at their workplaces instead of traveling to medical units. As a result, time is saved and workplace absenteeism is reduced.
Services provided include general medicine consultations; follow-up for chronic diseases or pregnancy; prescription and delivery of medications; as well as requesting or receiving laboratory test results or radiodiagnostics.
