Small coffee producers in the municipalities of Quesada and Jutiapa have taken part in training sessions focused on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which is a key requirement for continued exports to the European market.
During these sessions, participants learned about the main requirements of the new regulation, including prohibitions, obligations, due diligence, and traceability. These elements are considered essential for ensuring their coffee meets international standards.
The training was organized through a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), specifically its Vice Ministry of Rural Economic Development (VIDER), and private sector initiatives. The aim is to increase access to markets, improve competitiveness, and encourage more sustainable production methods.
According to organizers, technical support will continue so that coffee growers in Jutiapa can be better prepared to take advantage of opportunities offered by demanding markets.
