Eleven beekeepers in San Andrés, Petén, have received certificates confirming their registration in the Guatemalan Beekeeping Registry (REGAPI). This registry is the official system of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) in Guatemala for registering producers and establishments involved in honey production.

The REGAPI serves to formally identify beekeepers and others connected to the beekeeping supply chain. It also supports traceability, organization, and overall development within the sector.

The certificate distribution event took place at ASOSELVA MAYA’s facilities in Barrio Norte, San Andrés. Staff from the Agricultural Development Directorate (DAGRO) of the Vice Ministry for Petén Affairs (VIPETÉN) provided technical assistance to those present.

Participants were given information about the significance of being registered, as well as details on how this contributes to both productive and commercial growth in local beekeeping. The initiative aims to strengthen local capacities and support ongoing improvements in the region’s apiculture sector.
