The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) has provided agricultural supplies and materials to bean producers in several communities in La Libertad. The initiative aims to boost the production of artisanal seed and improve storage practices in the region.
The distribution was managed by the agricultural team from the Directorate of Agricultural Development (DAGRO), under the Deputy Ministry for Petén Affairs (VIPETÉN). Producers received both agricultural inputs and materials intended for building artisanal silos.
According to MAGA, this effort is designed to improve seed conservation and ensure quality during production, while supporting local food security. The ministry stated, "This action seeks to optimize seed conservation and guarantee its quality during the production process, strengthening the self-sufficiency of farming families and promoting local food security."
Communities that benefited from this program include Laguna Larga, La Nueva Formación, San Diego, Gracias a Dios, and Santa Rita. Producers expressed their gratitude for the support received. They said these actions help strengthen their productive capacities.
