The Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) has opened a new workplace clinic at Ingenio San Diego, aiming to provide direct medical care to over 5,000 workers. The facility is designed to offer quick consultations, timely diagnoses, and preventive measures without requiring employees to leave their work area. This approach is expected to support early detection of illnesses and promote overall worker well-being.

At the inauguration event, Dr. Franco Marcenaro, director of the Escuintla Hospital, and Dr. Rudy López, head of Preventive Medicine at IGSS, attended alongside Ingenio San Diego executives Alden Kitson (CEO) and Claudia Diéguez (Director of Human Capital).

Dr. Marcenaro stated: "Bringing health services closer to the workplace guarantees timely care for those who need it most." Alden Kitson added: "This clinic improves the quality of life for our staff and responds to a real need."

The new unit will provide primary care and handle minor emergencies on-site. This is intended to help reduce absenteeism and strengthen preventive measures among workers. With this opening, IGSS continues its model of workplace clinics that benefit thousands of employees nationwide.

"Each workplace clinic expands access to services and strengthens the culture of health in workplaces," said Dr. Rudy López.
