Guatemalan authorities have held a high-level meeting to discuss the phytosanitary processes involved in tariff negotiations with the United States. The meeting, organized by the Ministry of Economy (MINECO), included participation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA).

During the session, officials reviewed requirements set by the U.S. government and examined technical and operational aspects related to phytosanitary inspection services. These services are provided by the Section of Plant Protection and Health and the Agricultural Protection Service (SEPA). The aim is to improve efficiency at Guatemalan ports while ensuring compliance with international standards.

The ministries stated that these efforts reinforce their commitment to strengthening export sector competitiveness, upholding phytosanitary measures, and maintaining smooth trade relations with the United States.
