In the community of Willy Woods, located in Santo Domingo Suchitepéquez, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) organized a training session for 22 members of the ASDECOSUR Association. The session focused on the proper use and management of hand seeders as part of ongoing efforts to improve agricultural practices.

The event was led by staff from the Vice Ministry of Rural Economic Development (VIDER). Participants received practical instruction on how to operate manual seeders, including calibrating the correct amount of fertilizer per planting based on crop needs. They also learned how much seed should be used and how to select the appropriate cylinder for each crop type.

Each producer received a manual seeder to support their production capabilities. This tool is intended to optimize planting and increase accuracy in fertilizer application, which will help make input use more efficient.

"With this training, producers from the South Coast are moving toward more efficient sowing systems, with higher yields and better quality crops, strengthening their competitiveness and ability to respond to market demands," MAGA stated.
