The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) and the Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology (ICTA) organized a field tour at ICTA's facilities in Zacapa to enhance farmers' skills in managing staple grains and extensive crops. The event provided technical instruction to promoters from the Centers for Learning for Rural Development (CADER), who will share their knowledge with families in communities including Los Cimientos, El Rincón, Guacamayas Arriba, Santa Rosa, La Torera, Rodeo Arriba, El Carrizal, and Cerro de Cal. These areas are served by the Rural Extension Agency of San José La Arada municipality in Chiquimula.

The activity aimed to improve crop production and productivity while supporting sustainable rural development. Juan Pablo Gil, a professional technician from MAGA’s Municipal Rural Extension Agency (AMER), coordinated the tour with Luis Sagüil from ICTA.

Support for transportation and meals was provided by the CIAT-Bioversity/FUNDIT Alliance.

According to organizers, "With these inter-institutional activities, the agencies fulfill their objective of validating and transferring knowledge and technology for the benefit of families engaged in agriculture."

These efforts reflect ongoing collaboration between government agencies and partner organizations to strengthen agricultural practices among local farmers.
