Guatemala hosted the Pre Ibero-American Country Brand Forum organized by the Ibero-American Country Brand Council (CIMAP) in La Antigua Guatemala from June 1 to 2, 2023. The event aimed to strengthen connections among members and promote economic, commercial, and investment relations through a positive international image.

Participants from Argentina, Barcelona, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, Cuba, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay took part in discussions focused on sharing experiences and best practices for designing, managing, and sustaining country brands. These sessions also set the agenda for the main CIMAP Forum scheduled to take place in Peru in September.

The meetings were supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Participants highlighted how strategic alliances can increase trade and investment through country branding initiatives. The event served as a platform for exchanging strategies and incentives that support both public and private adoption of Guatemala’s country brand.

Anayansy Rodriguez, Director General of INGUAT (Guatemalan Institute of Tourism), said: “This important event marks the beginning of a new chapter in promoting our nations. It is time to strengthen our Country Brands and actively promote them in all areas. We must join efforts to develop effective strategies that boost our image globally.”

According to organizers, a country’s brand serves as an expression of its unique character on the world stage.

Guatemala’s country brand strategy is intended to update its image internationally while attracting tourism, commerce, and foreign investment.
