Extension agents from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) have provided technical assistance to members of the Rural Development Learning Center (CADER) in Nuevo San Francisco, Petén.
During the session, farmers received guidance on selecting seeds for planting. This is intended to help ensure a strong start for crops and increase productivity.
The training also covered pest and disease control for bean and squash crops. The advice aims to help CADER members use proper agricultural practices, lower the risk of crop loss, and encourage sustainable crop management.
According to MAGA, "The main objective of these actions is to support farmers so they can achieve good harvests and strengthen food security in the region. This type of technical support reflects MAGA's commitment to rural development and improving agricultural production in Petén."
These efforts are part of ongoing initiatives by MAGA to assist local producers with knowledge that can improve yields and promote food security.
