A follow-up workshop focused on "Agriculture and Nutrition in the Life Cycle" was held on October 29 at the Sacatepéquez departmental office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA). The session is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen knowledge about balanced diets across different life stages and sustainable farming practices that support improved nutrition and food security within communities.
Seventeen participants attended, including educators from Hogar Rural, Rural Agricultural Development Extensionists (EDAR), and a school feeding delegate from MAGA. The workshop included practical exercises and group case resolutions designed to reinforce technical skills for application in local communities.
Organizers said these workshops aim to build the capacity of technical staff. "These workshops reinforce the capacities of technical personnel and are part of the commitment by nutritionists involved in the Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture component, who are developing training processes in coordination with the Vice Ministry of Food Security and Nutrition (VISAN) and the World Food Programme (WFP)," according to event organizers.
The initiative aligns with collaborative efforts between MAGA, VISAN, and WFP to enhance agricultural practices that positively affect community nutrition.
