Guatemala’s agriculture minister attends regional food security talks in Brazil

Guatemala’s Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food, María Fernanda Rivera, is attending the Regional Policy Dialogue on Agricultural Productivity, Resilience and Food Security in Latin America and the Caribbean. The event is taking place in Brasília, Brazil.

The dialogue has been organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and brings together ministers, vice-ministers, and senior officials from agricultural ministries across the region. The meeting aims to discuss current trends in agricultural productivity, analyze key factors influencing these trends, and exchange views on public policy options to promote productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector.

Minister Rivera will also take part in the Conference of Ministers of Agriculture of the Americas 2025. This conference is hosted by the Brazilian government along with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).

According to a statement from Guatemala’s Ministry of Agriculture: "With its participation in this dialogue, MAGA reaffirms its commitment to developing a modern, inclusive and sustainable agriculture that contributes to the well-being of Guatemalan rural families and helps shape the future of agriculture on the continent."
