The Directorate General for Road Protection and Safety (PROVIAL) has begun a series of training sessions focused on animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. The initiative, which started on November 21, is a response to the presence of feral cats at PROVIAL’s facilities.

The program is organized by the Animal Welfare Unit (UBA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food (MAGA). It includes seven modules that cover technical and legal aspects related to responsible animal management in accordance with current regulations. The training sessions are scheduled to take place throughout November and December.

Topics addressed in the modules include the Animal Protection and Welfare Law, responsible ownership, population control, behavioral evaluation, as well as other subjects related to animal care within institutional settings.

The sessions are held in PROVIAL’s Aula Magna with active participation from staff members. According to organizers, these activities aim to promote practices consistent with animal welfare principles while also encouraging responsible management of both human and animal resources within the institution.

“With this initiative, UBA reaffirms its commitment to the protection and dignified treatment of animals, as well as the promotion of responsible ownership, strengthening institutional capacities for more humane and sustainable management,” stated representatives from UBA.
