The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) is working to improve the productivity and quality of life for farming families in Estanzuela Arriba, a village in the municipality of Quezaltepeque, Chiquimula. Through its team of extension workers, MAGA is promoting sustainable and profitable horticultural production techniques.

Community members who are part of the local Rural Development Learning Center (CADER) have received training in innovative horticulture practices. These trainings are intended to help them expand their activities and optimize crop yields.

Key topics covered during the sessions included planting distances, crop association, and staged fertilization. The ministry expects these methods will help increase production levels while ensuring product quality.

As a result of these efforts, CADER groups are creating new planting areas and involving more families in their centers. This participation gives them access to training opportunities, technical support, integration with other producers, and additional activities that contribute to family group development and community growth.
