The United States government, through USAID, together with CBC and TechnoServe, has introduced the "Support Project for Neighborhood Stores" in El Salvador. The project aims to promote inclusive economic growth in the retail sector by providing financial and business training to 44,000 local merchants. It also seeks to improve business models through digital channels.
Additionally, the initiative will help 10,500 businesses access financing and is expected to benefit 15,000 residents across Santa Ana, San Miguel, and San Salvador with new products and services.
More than 1,800 stores will participate in an acceleration program that offers technical support in areas such as sales and digitalization. A leadership and empowerment course for women will also be part of the program.
"This effort is part of the Central America Forward initiative," a spokesperson said. "It is designed to mobilize investments in the region and reaffirm commitment to economic development in El Salvador." The project aims not only to improve business sustainability but also to create positive social impact within communities.
