Ricardo Manuel Rojas, director of the Bruno Leoni Center at Francisco Marroquín University, has been named Author of the Year 2025 by the university’s Faculty of Law. The award was presented during UFM’s annual Legal Week.
Upon receiving the recognition, Rojas reflected on his writing journey, stating that he began writing at age six and has experienced two main phases: an initial focus on literature and fiction, followed by a shift to scientific topics related to social sciences, law, and economics.
“Since I was a child my way of relating to the world was through writing,” said Rojas. He added: “Writing — and I say this to students — is one of the best exercises one can do for intellectual growth because it teaches us a lot about organizing our ideas. So I encourage you to write, no matter if you do it well or badly, because writing is fundamental for lawyers.”
“I feel very honored that the Faculty of Law at UFM, a university I care about very much, gives me an award for writing. This encourages me to continue writing,” Rojas concluded.
Fausto García, director of the Department of Legal Information at UFM, explained: “Legal Week is a space dedicated to students and the academic community at UFM for reflection, learning and dialogue around major legal themes in a society of free and responsible individuals.” He continued: “The recognition received by Dr. Rojas is for those who through their work and teaching contribute to strengthening letters, legal science and critical thinking.”
“This year’s distinction went to Dr. Ricardo Manuel Rojas, an admirable jurist who has managed to combine judicial practice with academic research and philosophical reflection; but above all dissemination of market economy ideas and their relationship with law. In addition he is a dear friend to UFM, its Faculty of Law and myself,” García added.
Dean Arturo Saravia also spoke during the event: “For the Faculty of Law it is an honor to give this recognition to Dr. Ricardo Manuel Rojas for the clarity expressed in his works and general activity.”
Jesús María Alvarado, director of UFM’s Graduate School, delivered remarks honoring Rojas.
The distinction was awarded on September 23rd 2025 as part of Francisco Marroquín University’s commitment to academic excellence and recognizing those who promote ethical principles as well as legal and economic education in support of free societies.
