Corporacion Multi Inversiones issued the following announcement on Aug. 19.
TECHO, in alliance with three donor companies: Toledo, Compartamos SA and USAPEEC, laid the first stone of the project that will provide definitive housing for 15 families that were affected by the eruption of the Fuego volcano on June 3, 2018.
In the emotional act the members of the beneficiary families, TECHO volunteers and representatives of the donor companies participated.
Since what happened with the Volcano of Fire, there has been a social accompaniment to the affected families to develop the self-management of this new community. Workshops focusing on topics such as organization, participation and project formulation are held every week; as well as family management capabilities: home savings, self-improvement of the home and distribution of household chores.
Today, thanks to this alliance, we seek to create a new community with the 15 families benefited, in a safe place, with better location, conditions and cover basic needs of our employees.
The project, located in Escuintla, is expected to complete the construction of the 15 homes next November, to give hope to the families benefited.
