A group of twenty entrepreneurs and organic producers in San Pedro La Laguna, Sololá, is moving forward with efforts to organize formally. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) through its Vice Ministry of Rural Economic Development (VIDER).

At a recent meeting, technical staff from VIDER provided legal advice and support to help strengthen the group's structure. The goal is to form a non-profit civil association, which would be an important step toward formalization and access to financial mechanisms.

During the session, participants learned about different types of organizations, legal requirements, public registries, and the rights and obligations associated with civil associations. Practical tools were also shared to help members proceed with greater confidence and independence as they work toward legal recognition.

"MAGA provided guidance on organization types, legal steps, public records processes, and the responsibilities that come with forming a civil association," said a representative at the event.

This effort aims to support local organic producers in building sustainable structures for their activities.
