Ministerio de Comunicaciones highlights roadworks and women's safety initiatives in recent posts

The Guatemalan Ministry of Communications, known as Ministerio de Comunicaciones, recently shared updates on infrastructure and social initiatives through its official Twitter account. The tweets, posted between December 1 and December 2, 2025, highlight ongoing road rehabilitation efforts in El Progreso, government action to support women facing violence, and ministerial activities in San Marcos.

On December 1, 2025, the ministry reported progress on a major infrastructure project: " Después de años de abandono, la carretera hacia Santa Rita renace @COVIAL_CIV avanza en la rehabilitación de 4.7 km de ruta, devolviendo movilidad, seguridad y tranquilidad a las familias de Guastatoya."

A subsequent tweet from December 2 focused on gender-based violence: "La violencia física afecta más que el cuerpo: rompe entornos, oportunidades y tranquilidad. Por eso el @guatemalagob refuerza continuamente sus mecanismos de atención y apoyo para garantizar la seguridad de todas las mujeres." The message included references to Guatemala’s governmental entities responsible for supporting women’s safety.

In another post on December 2, the ministry highlighted Minister Norma Zea’s involvement in regional outreach: "La Ministra de Comunicaciones Norma Zea también forma parte de la gira #ATuTierra en San Marcos."

The Ministry of Communications oversees public infrastructure projects and collaborates with agencies such as COVIAL (Unidad Ejecutora de Conservación Vial) to maintain roadways across Guatemala. In addition to physical infrastructure work like the Santa Rita road rehabilitation mentioned above—a project aiming to restore safe transportation routes for local families—the ministry also participates in nationwide campaigns promoting women’s safety and welfare.

These efforts are part of broader government programs intended to improve quality of life by investing both in critical infrastructure and in social support systems for vulnerable populations.
