A total of 84 coffee pulping machines were delivered to cooperatives in the Ixil region of Quiché as part of the Rural Livelihoods and Entrepreneurship Recovery Project (REME). The project aims to improve the productive capacity of local cooperatives and enhance coffee quality processes in the area.
The initiative is led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with funding from the European Union.
The distribution event took place at the central processing facility of Asociación Chajulense, located in Chajul, Quiché. During the event, 42 pulping machines were given to Estrella Polar cooperative from Chajul and another 42 to Las Pilas cooperative from Nebaj.
Local authorities, community representatives, and direct beneficiaries attended the event. According to organizers, this effort represents progress for rural development and sustainability in these communities by improving livelihoods.
