CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, took part in the 2025 Sustainability Forum held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, to highlight its ongoing efforts in sustainability and circular economy practices.

At the event, CMI representatives discussed the company’s progress in renewable energy initiatives, measures to reduce CO₂ emissions, and strategies for promoting a circular economy. These efforts are intended to show how innovation and responsible environmental management can create value for both businesses and local communities.

Maira Serrano, Senior Manager of Environmental Management at CMI Alimentos, delivered a presentation titled “Transforming Waste into Opportunities: Implementing Circular Economy and Generating Value in Organizations.” She stated: “The circular economy is not an option, it is a necessity. In the industrial sector we have the potential to lead this change with innovation, talent and commitment.”

CMI reports that it now operates nine Carbon Neutral certified plants across the region. The company has also implemented energy efficiency projects and developed systems for managing recyclable waste at its restaurants. Additionally, its animal feed business unit has introduced next-generation nutrients designed to lower CO₂ emissions while improving production efficiency.

Other initiatives include reforestation projects resulting in more than 23,000 trees planted and the installation of 12,000 solar panels. These actions are part of CMI’s broader commitment to advancing sustainability with positive impacts on families and communities where it operates.

CMI is currently led by third-generation family members Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga as President Chairman of CMI Alimentos and Felipe Bosch Gutiérrez as President Chairman of CMI Capital. Both leaders continue to affirm their commitment to sustainable development in the region.
