The Board of Directors of the National Fund for the Reactivation and Modernization of Agricultural Activity (FONAGRO) held its tenth extraordinary session in Quetzaltenango. During this meeting, adjustments to ongoing projects were approved, and progress on key agroindustrial initiatives in western Guatemala was reviewed.
The session was chaired by María Fernanda Rivera Dávila, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food. She was joined by José Antonio López, Deputy Minister of Rural Economic Development, along with council members and Armando Hernández, director of the National Association of Deciduous Fruit Producers (ANAPDE).
One focus was on modifying budget items and targets for the project “Implementation of a Milk Processing Plant and Equipment for the La Vaquita Mixed Association” in San Carlos Sija. The board also approved settlements for current projects.
As part of the agenda, officials toured ANAPDE facilities where fruit preserves and dehydration processes are underway.
Minister Rivera Dávila stated: "We will continue to hold sessions and technical visits in different territories to strengthen ties with producers and supervise the progress of projects promoted by FONAGRO."
In recognition of support received, ANAPDE presented acknowledgments to Minister María Rivera, Deputy Minister López, and Leopoldo Chuc, director of FONAGRO.
FONAGRO is leading a strategic project involving the installation of four collection and processing centers for deciduous fruits—apples, peaches, plums, and pears—to produce syrups, dried fruits, ciders, and vinegars across various regions.
