The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) recently conducted a training session focused on good agricultural and manufacturing practices for members of the Dulce Nombre de María Cooperative in Santa María de Jesús, Sacatepéquez. The event was organized by technical staff from the Vice Ministry of Rural Economic Development (VIDER).

According to MAGA, these good practices are important for achieving competitive production standards across different markets. "The session developed was a space for dialogue, learning, and joint work between participants and instructors," the ministry stated. Technical staff from VIDER shared information about proper handling and storage after harvest. This guidance aims to improve product quality and increase commercial opportunities for local producers.

As part of the initiative, cooperative members received 150 jute sacks to help protect grains and facilitate their management. The ministry said it is promoting the adoption of good practices among producer organizations so they can improve their processes, better protect their crops, and safely access new markets.
