The Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) has welcomed a new group of scholarship recipients from the Fundación Juan Bautista Gutiérrez (FJBG) at its three campuses. The award ceremony highlighted the academic achievements of students from various regions in Guatemala and Honduras.
Dr. Mónica Stein, Vice-Rector for Research, Outreach, and Development at UVG, addressed attendees by emphasizing the significance of the venue named after the founder of the FJBG University Scholarship Program. Dr. Stein stated: "The vision of Dr. Gutiérrez has had an impact on young people, their families, their communities, and the country." She added that both FJBG and UVG are committed to education that transforms lives.
For 2026, FJBG has selected 53 full scholarship recipients who will receive comprehensive support including academic assistance, coaching sessions, and leadership development tools. Of these scholars, 34 will attend classes at UVG.
At UVG's Central Campus, scholarship recipients will pursue degrees focused on innovation, technology, and development.
UVG’s Altiplano Campus is set to welcome four students—three in one program and another in a separate field of study.
Meanwhile, other young people will enroll in different programs at another campus.
According to university representatives, UVG aims to ensure that talented youth can achieve their goals without limitations and seeks to make a positive difference through impactful projects. By welcoming FJBG scholars to its community, UVG supports the efforts of young individuals dedicated to transforming society through science, technology, and education. "Welcome FJBG scholars to UVG!"
