The Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes de Guatemala published a series of posts on November 15, 2025, highlighting the anniversary of the Museo de Arte Colonial (MAC) in La Antigua Guatemala and its ongoing role in preserving national heritage.

In one post, the ministry stated: " El Museo de Arte Colonial (MAC), ubicado en el corazón de La Antigua Guatemala, celebra 89 años de resguardar el valioso legado artístico del periodo colonial." This message marked the museum's 89th year since its establishment.

#ElPuebloDignoEsPrimero"

The Museo de Arte Colonial is recognized for its extensive collection of art and artifacts from Guatemala’s colonial period. The institution has played a significant role in safeguarding sculptures, paintings, and religious art dating from the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries. The museum is situated in La Antigua Guatemala, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its preserved Baroque architecture and historical significance as a former capital of the Captaincy General of Guatemala.

The Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes serves as Guatemala’s principal government body overseeing arts, heritage conservation, and sports promotion throughout the country.
