CBC, UN Women, and the HOSAGUA Network have opened a digital training center for women entrepreneurs in Chiquimula, Guatemala. The "HOSAGUA Guatemala Digital Training Center" aims to improve the digital, business, commercial, and financial skills of women in the region. This initiative is part of the Local Women’s Economy and Territories Program (MELYT), which is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
The center provides internet access, technological equipment, and digital training programs designed to empower women from the Trifinio area. Initially, it will serve 50 members of the HOSAGUA Network and other local women entrepreneurs. In time, it plans to expand its services to more women and young people in the region.
Gloria Carrera Massana, representative of UN Women, said: “This center will be a space where education and technology come together to break down barriers and build bridges towards a more prosperous and equal future.”
Rosa María de Frade, Corporate Director of Corporate Affairs at CBC, stated: “The Digital Training Center is a space to empower women with digital skills, forge an inclusive and prosperous future for all, ensuring no one is left behind in the digital age.”
As part of this partnership effort, new furniture was installed at the facility along with infrastructure improvements. Essential technological equipment was also donated.
According to representatives from both HOSAGUA Network and Red de Mujeres Chiquimultecas (Redmuch), this project plays an important role in promoting digital inclusion for women as well as supporting their economic development and reducing gender gaps within Trifinio.
