The Superintendencia de Administración Tributaria (SAT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF). The agreement aims to strengthen customs control mechanisms and prevent the illicit trafficking of goods. This initiative is part of SAT's broader Institutional Strengthening Plan.

According to SAT, the memorandum will promote the exchange of strategic information, early warnings, and international best practices. These efforts are intended to improve control processes, facilitate legitimate trade, and support Guatemala's competitiveness in global markets.

"This step consolidates SAT as a benchmark in international cooperation for border protection and combating customs fraud, reinforcing the trust of citizens and the productive sector in the integrity of our operations," said a representative from SAT.
