As part of its commitment to ending violence against women and promoting gender equality in the agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) has illuminated its facilities in orange on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
The color orange is a symbol of the United Nations campaign "UNITE to End Violence Against Women and Girls," which aims to achieve this goal by 2030. This year, the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence focus on digital violence.
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is observed annually on November 25 and continues until December 10, which marks Human Rights Day. The date was officially recognized on December 17, 1999, to encourage governments, international organizations, and society at large to raise awareness about violence against women.
According to MAGA, through its Gender Unit, it promotes activities and actions that support women's well-being and respect for their rights. The ministry also provides reporting channels via its Probity Unit to address cases of workplace mistreatment, sexual harassment, and violence.
