Staff from the Procuraduría General de la Nación (PGN) participated in a training program focused on the responsible management of feral cats. The initiative was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA), through its Animal Welfare Unit (UBA).
The sessions took place over four days, from November 17 to 20, 2025. The training aimed to strengthen staff knowledge on key topics such as the Animal Protection and Welfare Law, responsible pet ownership, authorities involved in animal welfare, animal behavior assessment, and other subjects related to ethical and technical management of feline populations.
According to MAGA, "With the aim of promoting appropriate, safe and humane actions for addressing feral cats, the current legal framework and the institutional role of authorities were shared in compliance with national regulations."
The UBA stated that these efforts are part of its ongoing commitment to promote animal welfare and provide technical support to public institutions for implementing responsible and sustainable solutions. "With these actions, the UBA reaffirms its commitment to promoting animal welfare and providing technical support to public institutions for implementing responsible and sustainable solutions," said a representative from UBA.
