The Ministerio de Cultura y Deportes de Guatemala announced on October 20, 2025, a series of cultural activities celebrating Guatemalan literary and musical heritage. Miguel Ángel Asturias is one of Guatemala’s most celebrated writers and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1967 for his significant contributions to Latin American literature. Francisco Morales Santos is also recognized as an influential figure in Guatemalan literature; he received national honors for his body of work. The Fondo de Cultura Económica is known for promoting cultural events and fostering dialogue around Latin American arts and letters.
