MAGA Guatemala shared updates on the country’s efforts to address nutrition, water access, and child development through a series of posts published on November 8, 2025. The posts detailed recent discussions and decisions made within the framework of CONASAN (the National Council for Food and Nutrition Security).
In one post, MAGA Guatemala reported: "Durante la sesión, se presentaron los avances en el cumplimiento de los compromisos y directrices establecidos en el marco del #CONASAN, así como las acciones territoriales que fortalecen el acceso al agua, la nutrición y el desarrollo integral de la niñez." (November 8, 2025).
Another post highlighted a key outcome from the meeting: "En la reunión fue aprobado el Plan de Lucha contra la Malnutrición 2025-2028, instrumento que orientará las acciones conjuntas en favor de la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional del país." (November 8, 2025).
The participation of Vice President Karin Herrera was also noted. She emphasized the need for coordinated institutional efforts to address malnutrition in Guatemala: "La vicepresidenta Karin Herrera resaltó que “la lucha contra la desnutrición requiere del compromiso interinstitucional y de una visión integral que coloque a la niñez como prioridad para alcanzar el desarrollo sostenible de Guatemala.”" (November 8, 2025).
CONASAN serves as an inter-institutional body responsible for guiding food security and nutrition policies in Guatemala. The approval of the new plan for fighting malnutrition reflects ongoing government initiatives to prioritize children’s health and sustainable development.
