The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) in Chimaltenango held an event to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, observed on November 25. The event emphasized the role of rural women as central figures in family education and youth training.
During the activity, MAGA distributed informational brochures about violence prevention and promoted workshops and training sessions aimed at supporting local residents. Local products such as herbal shampoo and ointment for bone pain, both developed under MAGA's initiatives, were showcased. These products are outcomes of training programs and entrepreneurial projects connected to Rural Home activities within the Centers for Learning for Rural Development (CADER).
The focus of the event was on combating gender-based violence, promoting women's rights, and empowering women. Awareness messages included “I want to live free from violence.”
According to MAGA representatives, "With MAGA’s presence at this activity, we reaffirm our commitment in the fight against gender-based violence, equality, and respect for human rights."
