CMI highlights investment strategy at Volcano Summit 2025

The Volcano Summit 2025 took place in Antigua Guatemala, bringing together leaders, innovators, and change agents from across Latin America. The event focused on startups, technology, and the influence of family businesses on innovation and sustainable growth.

Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI) participated through its corporate venture capital unit, CMI Ventures. According to the organization, "Faithful to our purpose of 'generating impact investments that drive sustainable development' and seeking that our growth generates opportunities to grow together, since 2024, CMI, Corporación Multi Inversiones, through our business unit CMI Capital, promoted the creation of CMI Ventures, a platform dedicated to investing in startups and innovation."

CMI stated that its aim is "to create partnerships with ventures developing disruptive technologies or transformative business models capable of enhancing the industries we participate in and those we consider strategic for the future." The company highlighted its belief in collaboration between established firms and startups: "We are convinced that innovation comes from working together. That is why we believe in the power of uniting the experience of companies with the agility of startups to create solutions that can scale and generate real impact."

Representatives from CMI and CMI Ventures spoke at various panels during the summit. Panelists included Felipe Bosch Gutiérrez, Chairman of CMI Capital; Luis Pedro Recinos, Corporate General Director; Agustín Rotondo, Director of CMI Ventures; and María Isabel Rodas, Venture Program Senior Manager.

Luis Pedro Recinos delivered a talk titled “Leading with Gratitude,” where he discussed how his personal journey shaped his leadership style. He emphasized that "true purpose is manifested, practiced, and constantly reinvented through service."

Agustín Rotondo contributed his perspective on turning strategic opportunities into engines for innovation in Latin America’s future. María Isabel Rodas joined a panel organized by WeInvest about corporate venture capital in Latin America and shared insights into how large companies invest in startups and emerging technologies.

As part of their involvement at the summit, CMI hosted a VIP event titled “From Tradition to Transformation: How Family Corporations Are Driving Innovation.” The panel included representatives from some of Guatemala’s prominent family-owned businesses who discussed approaches to change and sustainable growth within their organizations.

Felipe Bosch Gutiérrez concluded CMI's participation with a conference highlighting CMI’s history rooted in founder values while focusing on building a better future for Latin America. During another panel on visionary leadership shaping the next decade for the region, Bosch commented on how CMI has transformed its legacy into innovation through purposeful leadership.

Currently led by Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga as Chairman of CMI Alimentos and Felipe Bosch Gutiérrez as Chairman of CMI Capital, CMI reaffirms its commitment to investments promoting sustainable development across programs supporting entrepreneurship.
