On Tuesday, June 24, a conference titled “Las maestras en la revolución de octubre de 1944” will be held to discuss and recognize the significant role of female teachers in one of Guatemala’s most important historical movements. The event is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. in the lobby of the Central Library and is open to the public.
The organizers encourage participation from students, educators, and anyone interested in learning more about the contributions of women educators during the October Revolution of 1944. The event aims to provide an opportunity for reflection on how these teachers influenced social and political change during that period.
Additional activities are being promoted at the university, including a reading club focused on Isabel Allende’s novel "La Casa de los Espíritus" and a book presentation on "La condición humana en Gabriel García Márquez" by Ligia Machado Pardo. There are also computer courses available in May for those looking to improve their digital skills.
A hybrid reading club meeting is planned for October 25, where participants will discuss "Quién se ha llevado mi queso" by Spencer Johnson, which explores themes of change and adaptation.
