Guatemala, through its Superintendencia de Administración Tributaria (SAT), took part in the 145th and 146th Sessions of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council. During these sessions, SAT reaffirmed Guatemala’s commitment to advancing a modern and sustainable customs agenda that addresses both national and regional interests.

Key initiatives received support at the event, including the Implementation Plan for 2025-2026, updates to the SAFE Framework, and new tools aimed at strengthening e-commerce and sustainability in customs operations.

SAT also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United States Department of Homeland Security via Customs and Border Protection (CBP), as well as with Peru’s National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT).

It was announced that Guatemala will host the next meeting of the WCO Policy Commission, further establishing its leadership in international customs administration.

The Guatemalan delegation was led by Werner Ovalle Ramírez, Superintendent of Tax Administration, along with Edwin Orlando Curtidor, Customs Manager.
