In Jocotán, Chiquimula, 48 families from the communities of Tesoro Arriba, Tesoro Abajo, Los Vados village, La Ceiba hamlet, and La Palmilla hamlet in Talquezal village have received vegetable seedlings as part of the “Mano a Mano” intervention. The seedlings included varieties such as lettuce, Swiss chard, bell pepper, cilantro, onion, and eggplant.
The initiative aims to strengthen family farming, encourage self-consumption, and improve food security in the region. It also seeks to support the productive development of local communities.
The distribution was carried out with the support of field professionals from the Directorate for Community Food Production Support (DAPCA) and an agricultural extension worker from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA). These professionals provided technical assistance on proper planting and care for the crops.
