The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA) in Guatemala has launched the Administrative Irregularities Reporting Management System to address corruption and administrative misconduct within the institution. The system aims to ensure that complaints from both the public and MAGA staff are managed efficiently.

This initiative follows Governmental Agreement number 210-2024, enacted by the President of Guatemala in Council of Ministers. The system was created under guidelines set by the National Commission against Corruption.

Complaints can be made about various issues, including corruption, ethical violations, abuse of authority, illicit charges for positions or procedures, payments related to judicial rulings, solicitation or acceptance of economic benefits, sexual harassment, and improper use of institutional vehicles.

There are three types of administrative complaints: open (where the complainant's identity is known), anonymous (without information about the complainant), and confidential (identity provided but kept confidential).

MAGA offers several channels for submitting complaints: a digital "Yo denuncio" button on its website at www.maga.gob.gt, an email address at alerta.probidad@maga.gob.gt, a telephone line at 2354-4125 extension 7225, and in-person reporting at the Monja Blanca building.

"The MAGA is committed to guaranteeing confidentiality and security of complaints as appropriate, as well as investigating and resolving all complaints effectively and promptly. The implementation of this system is an important step towards building a more transparent institution," stated MAGA.
