Corporacion Multi Inversiones issued the following announcement on July 20.
Given the current health crisis that the world is going through, it is important to rescue any activity that allows the continuity of the country's economic flow and at the same time, is an ally of the health system, which is in the forefront fighting this situation.
Coupling with available resources and taking actions that comply with safety and hygiene measures is an alternative for Guatemala to continue with its day to day.
The electricity sector is no stranger to this situation. Now is when it becomes more relevant to allow the essential stability that provides basic services to Guatemalans.
Behind every switch, computer, telephone, or telework initiative, there is an entire electrical infrastructure that begins with power generators and ends with end users.
Power generation is the first step in supply. Guaranteeing the continuity of generators' operations means guaranteeing the operation of the entire electricity sector, which is why generating plants, mainly hydroelectric plants, become a strategic actor.
Hidroelectrica Renace, belonging to Corporación Multi Inversiones -CMI-, is committed to generating clean energy to guarantee the supply of electricity that allows the flow of the electricity system in Guatemala, of vital importance in the face of this sanitary crisis.
It is a chain, the energy is derived from the operation of the country's hospital system, the stability of telecommunications that allow work at home, food production, the dynamics of the media; and with it the continuity of economic development and the unity of society.
WCC: SUPPORT TO GUATEMALA IN THE PANDEMIC
In April, Renace made a donation of more than 13,500 medical supplies to the Alta Verapaz Ministry of Health and Social Assistance for the benefit of the communities of San Pedro Carchá.
Donation included: face masks, latex glove boxes, ethyl alcohol gel, paper towel rolls, white lab coats, disposable protective suits, digital thermometers, bleach gallons, industrial-type safety glasses, and gel alcohol dispensers .
This donation is part of a comprehensive strategy to support Guatemala, where CMI has been present in various instances, for example with the last donation of eight million quetzales that it gave to the government of the republic, destined to equip the Hospital Center in Quetzaltenango to face the emergency of COVID-19.
Additionally, with the Q800,000 delivered through the Guatemalan electricity sector, for the purchase of protective equipment for health personnel throughout the country.
Corporación Multi Inversiones and Renace reiterate their commitment to sustainable development and will continue to work through their operations with responsibility and integrity, to ensure the supply of essential services such as energy to the population and families of the countries where it operates.
