Corporacion Multi Inversiones issued the following announcement on March 23.
The hashtag #GraciasPorCuidarnos has gained strength in social networks and arises to thank the work of people working against the Covid-19 coronavirus.
The restriction of staying at home for the majority of the population does not stop the work of the relief forces, nurses, police, doctors, pharmacy workers, restaurants, administrative personnel, the military and security agents.
Bank employees and government authorities also continue to do their job.
"Thank you very much to all the Guatemalans who are outside working day and night so that we can be in our homes," said María Inés Rivera, of the National Civic Movement.
"Today the heroes who are outside give security to those who are inside," wrote businessman Juan José Gutiérrez.
The situation of the Covid-19 in Guatemala
On Friday, March 13, the first case in the country was confirmed. This Saturday President Alejandro Giammattei reported that the number rose to 17, among which is a three-year-old girl.
Given the increase in infected people, the Central Government decreed a curfew, which will be applied from 4:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the following day. People who do not comply with the measure will be punished.
The president asked for the collaboration of the citizens to stay at home and thus prevent the spread of the disease.
