Corporacion Multi Inversiones recently issued the following announcement.
One of the most important expressions of any culture is its gastronomy, since it represents the traditions of a region. In Guatemala and especially in the Western region, during Lent and Holy Week there is an exceptional richness and characteristic dishes of the time, being the yolk bread the most emblematic pastry dish.
To celebrate and honor this tradition of the West, Modern Mills created the first Festival of Bread of Yemas, which was held on Sunday March 31 in Quetzaltenango and was attended by more than 500 people. The special guests of the Festival were all customers with their families who work with flours, in Quetzaltenango and its surroundings.
"We wanted to honor the tradition of the West during the season of Lent and Holy Week to elaborate and enjoy the Pan de Yemas, so characteristic of the region. During this season, it is tradition not only to enjoy this delicious bread, but to share it with family and friends. For this reason we wanted to share and celebrate with our allies, the flour processors who, through their work in bakeries, make this tradition possible, " said Ricardo Chacón, Market Coordinator.
One of the most representative activities was the elaboration of the largest bread of yolks in the region, which had a size of 6 meters long by 2 wide, for which there was a production and permanent display of bread. At the closing of the activity, the bread was shared among all the attendees. In addition, there was a whole series of fair games, adapted to the theme of the Festival and honoring the "Pan de Yemas", such as target shooting, bowling and fishing, among others.
"For Modern Mills and Excelsior Mill, it is very important to support the traditions of Guatemala. However, the cuisine of the Western region and Quetzaltenango is special for us, because it is where we were born thanks to the vision of Juan Bautista Gutiérrez, founder of Corporación Multi Inversiones, " added Rocío Figueroa, Head of Customer Service and Marketing.
The tradition of making this delicious bread is kept alive thanks to the work of artisans of bread, who with art and dedication make these foods. The leading mills of modern mills used in these breads such as Oso Blanco, El León, San Rafael and El Sol, have the highest international standards and certifications, which guarantee their safety and quality.
